Mr. C.V. Grooms, 73, a resident of Southport Road in Mt. Pleasant, TN., died Thursday, May 1, 2003, from injuries received in an accident at the Maury County Highway Department.
Funeral services for Mr. Grooms will be conducted Sunday, May 4, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with C.V. Robinson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Arthur and Vera McCollum Grooms and the widow of Dorothy Chatman "Dot" Grooms who died in 2002. He was a truck driver for the Maury County Highway Department and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #10 and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by a daughter, Rita David Gray of Columbia; a son, Ricky Amanda Grooms of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Elizabeth Powell of Mt. Pleasant and Betty C.J. Lyles of Nashville; a grandson, Zack Gray of Columbia; two granddaughters, Jordan Gray of Columbia and Micca Grooms of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Grooms is preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Pallbearers for Mr. Grooms will be Charles Collins, Larry Chatman, James Chatman, Jim Powell, Harry Bolton, and Stanley Eastep.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his fellow co-workers at the Maury County Highway Department.
