Columbus Lee Street, 80 passed away on September 18, 2012 at MRMC after battling gastric cancer. He was born January 10, 1932 in Athens, Alabama, the son of the late William Caril Street and Velmer Irene Haggermaker Street. Columbus married his sweetheart, Georgia Scott on May 31, 1952 and this year celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Columbus Street was a lifelong Christian. Together He and Georgia were charter members of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Columbia TN, where they have faithful served for 60 years. Columbus retired as an electrician for Occidental Petroleum Company after 31 years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Columbus was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather! His family’s fondest memories are his passion for music. He loved to pull out his guitar and sing and play with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, taking his grandkids on fishing trips; teaching them how to garden and numerous rides in his old pick up truck. Columbus was a great handy man! He had a knack for fixing about anything! He was a very generous man, constantly giving to those he loved and those less fortunate. Among his favorite pass times were Alabama football.
In addition to his dear wife Georgia, Columbus Street is survived by their daughter, Diane Street (Hank) Seamon of Columbia; grandchildren, Nichole Seamon (Matt) Strahan, David (Allison Waite) Seamon, Sarah Seamon (Zac) Curtis, and Michael Seamon; great-grandchildren, Isabella Strahan, Julian Strahan, Aiden Strahan, and Lucy Curtis; his siblings, Louella Street Green of Nashville, Gracie Street King, Bobby Street, Dorothy Street Thomason, Helen Street Dale, Charles Ray Street, Patricia Street Rochelle, Carolyn Street King, all of Columbia, and Dellie Street Wolffe of Wisconsin.
