Columbus Lee Street

January 10, 1932 — September 18, 2012

Columbus Lee Street, 80 passed away on September 18, 2012 at MRMC after battling gastric cancer. He was born January 10, 1932 in Athens, Alabama, the son of the late William Caril Street and Velmer Irene Haggermaker Street. Columbus retired as an electrician for Occidental Petroleum Company after 31 years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

Columbus was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather! His family’s fondest memories are his passion for music. He loved to pull out his guitar and sing and play with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, taking his grandkids on fishing trips; teaching them how to garden and numerous rides in his old pick up truck. Columbus was a great handy man! He had a knack for fixing about anything! He was a very generous man, constantly giving to those he loved and those less fortunate. Among his favorite pass times were Alabama football.
