Carl Clifton Himes, age 63 of Hampshire, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center, following a courageous yearlong battle with cancer.
Clifton was born July 10, 1953, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, to Jim and Eather Himes. Clifton shared his life with Cindy Parker Himes, and the two married on August 24, 1975. He spent most of his hardworking life as a farmer, before logging in his later years. Most will remember him for the amount of time spent under the Maple Tree on Dry Fork Road, in his outdoor “living room”, or solving the world’s problems at the Men’s Club in Hampshire. He was a loving, caring papa and wonderful friend to many. Clifton left everyone with a smile, and was sure to give you a hard time.
Clifton is survived by his wife, Cindy Himes of Hampshire; son, Randall (Crystal) Himes of Hampshire; daughter, Shandi (Larry) Akins of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Breonna and Katlyn Himes, Willard, Witney, Willa, and Wyatt Akins; brothers: Haville (Charlotte) Himes and Sam (Barbara) Himes; Man’s Best Friend, Willie; and a yard full of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Eather Himes; brother, Ed Himes.
The family will gather with friends on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Rock Jaggers officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Daniels, Paul Whiteside, Jason Scott, Ben Hoffman, Brian Hamm, and Eric Runions. Honorary Pallbearers will be his nieces, nephews, Wes Whiteside, Kirk Whiteside, Noah Foster, Stanfil Lumber Company & Employees, Hampshire Men’s Club, and friends at Duck River Market.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Williams Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
