Clifford Treat

February 7, 1925 — September 3, 2006

Clifford Treat, 81 of Davenport, IA, died in his sleep in Columbia, TN. He is survived by his 3 sons: Michael Gene Treat, 58 of Spotsylvania, VA, Ronnie Lee Treat, 56 of Rancho Mirage, CA, and Daniel Y Treat, 54 of Columbia, TN.
He is the grandfather of 7; Steven Treat, Mary Gulich, Jennifer Jamison, Warren, Randy, Megan and Casey Treat.
He is also the great grandfather of 7; Paige Gulich, Joshua, Christopher, Elizabeth and William Treat, Bryan Jamison and Hunter Douglas Treat. A memorial service will be held at the Williams Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant at 2:30pm on Tuesday, September 4th, 2006.

Cliff served in the US Navy during WW II on the DMS Elliot, a destroyer-minesweeper in San Diego, CA. He was also a Golden Gloves amateur boxer in his home town of Des Moines, IA and in the Navy. He spent 40 years as a Master Bricklayer in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland.

Mr. Treat is a 10th generation descendant of the Treat family in America dating back to 1637. The Treat name appears on the Declaration of Independence and the family founded Milford, CT, Bangor, ME and Newark, NJ. He counts as his relatives, Oliver Cromwell and Charles Dickens, both prominent English historical figures.

Cliff was married to Mary Frances Showman of Uniontown, PA for 40 years until her death in 1986. He will be buried next to his wife at the Stafford Memorial Gardens Military Cemetery in Stafford, VA.
