Clifford Roberts

Mr. Clifford Roberts, age 85, a resident of South Cross Bridges Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday December 5, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend William Owen and Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin Post # 19 of Columbia, TN.
The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Clarence and Etta Brooks Roberts and the husband of Geneva Barnett Baker Roberts. Mr. Roberts served our country in World War II in Guadalcanal and Tulagi BSI and retired from Union Carbide in 1983. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, baseball , telling jokes and a former member of the American Legion. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church and preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years, Aliene Johnson Roberts who died July 13, 1981.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Ronnie Roberts of Columbia, Connie Roberts and Judy Tony Foster both of Mt. Pleasant; step-children, Eugene Baker of Mt. Pleasant, Douglas Baker of Huntsville, AL, Dorris Sudberry of Mt. Pleasant and Linda Morcos of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Matt Roberts, Shane Roberts and Casey Roberts all of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Russell Edna Roberts and Clarence Phyllis Roberts, Jr. both of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Roberts, Cecil Roberts and Elmer Roberts; three sisters, Frances Crotzer, Lucille Turner and Katie Mae Fitzgerald.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Plant, Mike Wade, Tony Foster, Shane Roberts, Casey Roberts and Matthew Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church Sunday School Class.
