Cleo Akin Abernathy

December 10, 1920 — October 21, 2008

Mrs. Cleo Akin Abernathy, age 87, a resident of Poplar Estates in Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Abernathy will be conducted Friday, October 24th at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jim Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Henderson and Katherine Thompson Akin and wife of the late John Abernathy. She was a teacher at Highland Elementary School and worked as a proof reader at the Florence Times

She is survived by her daughter: Kay Jimmy Farris of Thompson Station; grandchildren: Jennifer Ronnie Dees of Humble, TX, Keith Ashley Farris of Pearland, TX and Wesley Farris of Thompson Station; great grandchildren: Kelsey Farris, Jacob Farris and Megan Farris, all of Pearland, TX, Trey Dees, Farris Dees and Micah Dees, all of Humble, TX. She was preceded in death by a sister: Bobbye Savage.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Abernathy, Keith Farris, Ronnie Dees, Wesley Farris, Trey Dees, Jacob Farris, Micah Dees and John Savage.
