Clayton Evans Jett, age 77, of Columbia, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Clayton was born to Vernie and Thelma Clift Jett in Marshall County on September 1, 1935. He later became a self-employed business owner. He was the owner and manager of Jett Painting Service and Jett Moving Service, also from where he retired. Mr. Jett was a very successful hard worker. ‘Happy go lucky’ was a very good term associated with him. He loved his dogs.
Funeral services for Mr. Clayton Jett will be Thursday, May 23, at 10:00 AM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday, May 22, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Survivors for Mr. Jett include: his son, Mark Jett of Columbia; his step-daughter, Connie Morning of West Virginia; his granddaughter, Morgan Terry of Columbia; his grandson, Anthony Jett; and his half-sister, Patsy McKee. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Vernie Jett and Thelma Clift Andrews; his step-mother, Margaret Jett, his step-father, Joe Andrews; his half-brother, John Jett; his wife, Sue Webb Jett; his brother, Everett Jett; and his step-son, Danny Peay.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Johnny Love, Jeremy Waller, Kenneth Jett, Mike Jett, Thomas Goetz, and Leonard Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Jett and Anthony Lee.
