Mr. Claude Lynn "Tazz" Barnes, 60, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Barnes will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2011, in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Jim Raine officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with Friday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
He was born in Garden City, Kansas on February 3, 1951, son of the late Eddie Barnes and Grace Koch Barnes. Tazz worked as a lead supervisor at PSC in Columbia, and attended church at The Well in Mt. Pleasant, TN. The family recalled several memories of Claude as a young man making his famous peanut butter cookies "Stay out of his kitchen", him fishing for hours on end, and just spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth, he was survived by his children: Gary Davis, Shanda Kip Koehn of Dodge City, KS, Jeremy Barnes of Kansas City, KS, and Misty Barnes of West TN; two step children: Joseph Sonnier and Misty Sonnier of Mt. Pleasant; Siblings: Wanda JJ Holmes of Garden City, KS, Ronnie Doyleen Barnes of Holcomb, KS, Joquetta Dean Perry of Holcomb, KS, Vivian Chris Van Vleet of Des Moines, Iowa, Bobby Barnes of Garden City, KS; also survived by his eleven grandchildren. . He was preceded in death by his parents: Eddie and Grace Koch Barnes.
Mr. Barnes' pallbearers will be Robert Smith, Tim Pinkston, Randy Winchester, Adam Nolan, Dave Dowden and David Black, as for the honorary pallbearers, Dean Perry, Dave Ring, Kip Koehn, Ronnie Barnes, Marcus Sharp and all employees of PSC Plant.
