Clarence C. Howell

March 13, 1920 — June 10, 2002

Mr. Clarence C. "Short" Howell, 82, a resident of Dry Creek Road in Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, June 10, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Howell will be conducted Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post Number 10. The family will visit with friends Monday 5 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home.

The Giles County native was the son of the late Eleck Howell and the late Martha Norman Howell. He was the husband of Frances Graham Howell. He was a retired inspector from Union Carbide and member of the Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. He was a WWII Army veteran and recipient of the Silver Star.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Kenneth "Pete" Mallory Howell of Lebanon, TN. and Terry R. Brenda Howell of Collierville, TN.; three granddaughters, Brandy Griffith Staggs of Columbia, Teri Nicole Howell of Cookeville, Regina Lea Howell of Collierville; four grandsons, TGraham Selman Howell of Collierville, Adam Graham Howell of Lebanon, John William Cheairs Howell of Lebanon and Paul O'Neal Howell of Lebanon; one Great Grandson, Cayleb Clay Staggs of Columbia; one son-in-law, Randall K. Lunn of Columbia; two brothers, Elam "Slim" Howell and Elmer "Buck" Howell both of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by one daughter Wanda Joyce Howell Lunn and three sisters, Minnie Hyatt Kimbell, Rosa Hedgepeth and Emma Manning.

Pallbearers will be Paul O'Neal Howell, Adam Graham Howell,
TGraham Selman Howell, Ted Bryan Howell, Sidney Howell, Donald Ray Howell, Elmer Eugene Howell, Timothy David Howell and Danny Wayne Howell. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of the Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church, the retirees of Union Carbide and all nephews.
