Clara B. Burgett

Mrs. Clara B. Burgett, age 86, of Columbia passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Clara was born on September 17, 1929 in Columbia, Tennessee to Arris B. Rummage and Willie F. Davis Rummage. She married James H. Burgett in 1954 and they had three children together. James passed away in 1971, after only 17 years of marriage. Clara, being the dedicated and loving mother she was, set about to work even harder to provide for her young children. She worked at Super Rama Foods for twenty-five years as well as working for various manufacturing companies. She was a very hard working person. She also loved the Lord with all her heart and was a life-long member of Mooresville Pike Church of Christ. The things she worried about most were her children, grandchildren and her dog Rocky.

Clara is survived by her son: Mike Burgett; daughter: Joyce Edlin; grandchildren: Michael Burgett, Jr. and Mason Edlin; great-grandchildren: Karley Burgett and Stephen Burgett, Mykenna Burgett, and Michaela Burgett; special friends: Randy Greene and Merilyn Grissom and many other friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son: Dwight Burgett; and brother: Marlon Rummage.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burgett will be held on Thursday, July 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, with Randy Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, July 13 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

David Walls, Jere Plant, Jimmy Thompson, Jon Inman, Tim Hamm and Terry Hayes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Super Rama, employees of Columbia Machine Works, Members of Mooresville Pike Church of Christ, Dave and Mary Jolly and Dallas and Eddie Vance.
