Christine Payne Pitts

Mrs. Christine Payne Pitts, age 72, a resident of Chapman Lane in Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, at her residence.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pitts will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Hitchin, England native was the daughter of the late Jesse Payne and Alice Byrd Payne. She was the wife of the late Franklin Pitts who preceded her in death on January 14, 1999. Mrs. Pitts was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her children: Linda Brown, David Diane Pitts, Gary Patricia Pitts, Mark Wanda Pitts and Kenneth Lori Pitts, all of Columbia; brothers: Keith Byrd and Gerald Byrd, both of England; grandchildren: Jim Pratt, Alexandra Brown, Heath Pitts, Sara Pitts, Jason Pitts, Jennifer Pitts and Maison Pitts, all of Columbia and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson: Steven Pulley.
Pallbearers will be Jason Pitts, Jim Pratt, Heath Pitts, Rob Morrow, Joe Brown and Roger Morrow. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Morrow and Bubba Fautt.
