Christine Kelley Givens

Mrs. Christine Kelley Givens, age 94, resident of Fly Road in the Hilltown Community, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at NHC/Hillview, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Givens was born on November 9, 1916 in Maury County and was the daughter of the late Bud and Bettye Humphrey Kelley. She was the wife of William Edward Givens who preceded her in death on April 26, 1997. Mrs. Givens was co-owner and operator with her husband of the Givens Grocery Store in Santa Fe. She loved quilting, having yard sales and also going to yard sales, canning vegetables and running the grocery store with her husband. She loved going on vacation with her family. Her passion in life was going to church and spending quality time with her church family. Mrs. Givens was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mrs. Givens is survived by a daughter, Joyce Jerry Scroggins of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Jamie Dungy, Pam David Wall, Kathy Givens, Johnny Tammy Mitchell, Dwayne Sandra Mitchell, Mike Rogers and Dale Gale Rogers; 2 step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband of 63 years, William Edward Givens, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Rogers, a son, James Givens, daughter-in-law, Frances Givens, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Givens will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, March 11, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Mark Thomas and Rev. Henry Mobley officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery.

The Givens Family will receive friends from 3-9 P.M. on Thursday and from 12 Noon until service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Mitchell, Dewayne Mitchell, Mike Rogers, Dale Rogers, Joseph Dungy and Chris Kelley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff at NHC/Hillview, members of Pentecostal Church of Christ, William Mitchell, Randy Mitchell, Josh Wall, Stephen Rogers, Miranda Osborne and Megan Lindsey.
