Charlie J. Scribner

Charlie Joseph Scribner, Jr., 53, resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, April 5.

Funeral services for Mr. Scribner will be conducted Thursday, April 10 at11:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Ezell Rose officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors provided by the TN National Guard.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of Frances Adams Scribner and the late Charlie Joseph Scribner, Sr. and leaves behind the mother of his children, Dawn Dawson Scribner. He was retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard and US Army and presently worked 20 years for Fed-Ex as a truck driver. Mr. Scribner was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia.

In addition to his mother and the mother of his children, survivors include a son: Kyle Scribner of Columbia; a sister: Wanda Cann of Florida; a brother: Michael Patricia Scribner of Columbia; father-in-law: Billy Ray Susan Dawson of Columbia; mother-in-law: Norma Dawson of Smyrna; sister-in-law: Sherry John Jolly of Murfreesboro; brother-in-law: Mark Heidi Dawson of Waco, TX; nieces and nephews: Ryan Jolly of Moulton, Al, Matt Dawson of Waco, TX, Zachary Alberts of Columbia, Jessica Jolly of Murfreesboro, Whitney Dawson of Waco, TX, Wesley Alberts, Cody Alberts, Stephanie Foster, Steven Orr and Madison Scribner, all of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Stacy Dawn Scribner.

The Tennessee National Guard will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John Jolly, Hank Alberts, Ryan Jolly, Mark Dawson, Ronnie Orr, Steve Orr, Joe and Debra "Mud Puppy" Varossa, Kirk Crotts, Michael Scribner, Rick "Short Stop" Wister, Jason "Bricklayer" Hanna, Richard "Fish Hook" Johnson, Richard "G-Man" Garrison and all employees and drivers of Fed-Ex.
