Charles W. Kibbons

March 2, 1914 — January 13, 2005

Mr. Charles Walter ?Cal? Kibbons, 90, well-known Columbia businessman and a resident of Whitney Drive, died Thursday, January 13, 2005 at Life Care Center.

A memorial service for Mr. Kibbons will be conducted Monday, January 17, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Bill Williamson officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday from 2:00 p.m. until service time in the church sanctuary. A private family inurnment service will be held Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.

The Paris, Tennessee native was the son of the late Halie Everett and Sarah Elizabeth Hancock Kibbons and was the husband of Doris Black Kibbons. Mr. Kibbons was a co-founder of Shapard Lumber Company and was owner and operator of Columbia Hardware for many years. He retired as an accountant for American Type Foundry in Sutton, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy and served our country in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Columbia Kiwanis Club.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Charles Joane Kibbons, Jr. of Cookeville, TN and John Kibbons of Sisters, OR; two grandsons, Kip Kibbons of Nashville, TN and Chris Kibbons of Murfreesboro, TN.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 801 South High Street, Columbia, Tennessee 38401.
