Charles H. “Tink” Grimes, Jr., age 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Signature Health Care in Columbia, Tennessee.
Charles was born in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, on January 22, 1927 to Charles H. Grimes, Sr. and Charlotte Skillern Grimes. On April 3, 1950 he married the love of his life, Doris Ann Holt Grimes. Charles was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Charles was a very talented singer and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing Eddy Arnold songs. He retired from Stauffer Chemical Company after many years of dedicated service. He served in the United Stated Army and was stationed in Japan during World War II. He was always “Tinkering” around, taking things apart to fix, so everyone knew him as “Tink” Grimes.
Tink is survived by his daughter Teresa Grimes (Mike) Kidd of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren Chris (La) Kidd and Angela Kidd; brother Kenneth Ray (Teri) Grimes of Florida; sisters-in-law Juanita Thomason of Decatur, AL, Nellie (Billy) Fagan of Lewisburg, TN, Martha Love of Columbia, Betty Crockrell of Summertown, and Patsy Holt of IL; brothers-in-law JC (Mary Lou) Holt of Mt. Pleasant, Harold (Louise) Holt of Columbia, and Jimmy Holt of Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his devoted wife Doris Ann Holt Grimes; his father Charles H. (Donna) Grimes, Sr.; his mother Charlotte Skillern Grimes; sisters-in-law Sue Grimes and Ruby Andrews; and brothers-in-law Gary Holt, Bill Love, Sr., Charlie Nance, Sherril Crockrell, and Cordie Andrews.
Funeral services for Charles will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Rev. Gary Wedgewood officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
