Charles Richard Trout

June 24, 1928 — December 13, 2010

Charles was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1928. He was the son of the late Thornton and Dorothy Gotwald Trout. Mr. Trout had lived all of his life in Pennsylvania until seven years ago, when he moved to Tennessee. He was a resident of First Avenue in Mt. Pleasant. Charles was a Corporal serving as a military police officer in the United States Army having served in World War II. Dick was very proud of his service and especially loved his "Ruptured Duck Medal". The Ruptured Duck Medal is the insignia representing an honorable discharge. Dick always said that is was probably worth no more than a few cents, but it meant the world to him.

In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he had worked for Allis-Chalmers Tractor Company and was a retired warehouse manager with Restaurant Equipment.

Dick loved his trips to the VA Hospital because he felt like everyone at the hospital was his brother. He especially loved these trips with his daughter and son-in-law because they would go to Ryan's or other restaurants to eat lunch. Following lunch, they would stop and visit with his grandson Michael and his great-grandchildren, Braden, Calvin and Abigail. His five cats were his life. One of Braden's funniest memories of Pawpaw was chasing his cats around the house. He has loved teasing his pawpaw about that ever since. Dick also enjoyed spending time reading and learning about history.

Charles is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer John Gibbs of Mt. Pleasant and Victoria Jeff Whittaker of Hereford, Arizona; a son, Anthony Ann Trout of Bisbee, Arizona; two grandsons, Michael Gina Smith and Charles Trout; two granddaughters, Laura Waite and Kelly Miller; and great-grandchildren, Braden Smith, Calvin Smith, Abigail Smith and Riley Waite. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Mr. Trout passed away at his home on Monday, December 13, 2010.

Graveside services for Mr. Trout will be conducted 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 29 at the Middle Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery in Pegram, TN with Rick Points officiating. Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
