Charles Luther Hubbell, age 73, of Lynnville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Charles was born on May 28, 1944, in Pulaski, Tennessee, to Gardner and Mary Austin Hubbell. On July 24, 1964, he married Joyce Potts. He retired from Union Carbide after working as a crane operator for over twenty years. He instilled in his children the importance of responsibility and hard work through his example, working two jobs on top of raising tobacco and other crops and cattle. He was a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ. In a good natured way, he loved to joke and pull pranks on people. Some of his favorite hobbies included fishing, sports and music.
Charles is survived by his loving wife: Joyce Potts Hubbell of Lynnville, Tennessee; children Cynthia (Paul) Gibson, Jeff (Susan) Hubbell and Jamie (Penny) Hubbell; grandchildren: Brandon Gibson, Charles (Mary Elizabeth) Gibson, Lane Gibson, Emma Hubbell, Anna Hubbell, Austin Hubbell and Anne Claire Hubbell; great grandchildren: Noah, Skyler and Colton Gibson; sister: Rosemary (Tad) Porter; nieces: Beth (Greg) Lawrence and Lacey Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gardner Hubbell and Mary Austin Hubbell; and nephew: Greg Hardcastle.
Funeral services for Mr. Hubbell will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, with Jeremy Butt and Randy Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee.
Kyle Luna, Bryan Flowers, Gary Johnson, Lane Gibson, Charles Gibson, Brandon Gibson, Mason Potts and Troy Potts will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Bolden, Jerry Flowers, Chad Cox, Kyle Thomas, Rob Cofer, Danny Clark, Larry Brown, Harlan Potts, Bob Cofer, Wayne Alderson, Mike Kesler, George Freeland, John Smith, Doug Boshers and Barry England. The family would like to give special thanks to the Maury Regional Medical Center Critical Care Unit.
