Charles E. King, Sr

Mr. Charles E. King, Sr., age 82, a resident of N. Elm Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. King will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Frank Webb and Rev. J.C. Christian officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffen American Legion Post #19.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Born November 26, 1926 in Maury County, he was the son of the late John Hardy and Naomi Potts King and the husband of Mary Elizabeth Boshers King. Mr. King retired as a foreman from the maintenance department of Stauffer Chemical and was U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He and his lovely wife, Mary, did a lot of charity work in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the American Legion Post #10 in Mt. Pleasant and a member and deacon for many years at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Ann Jim Fisher of Dacula, GA, Sandy Larry Gilbert of Franklin, KY and Charles King, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Beth Jeff Kinsinger of Lilburn, GA, Jimmy Allison Fisher of Buford, GA, Alice Jeramy Trammell of Winder, GA and Charles Edward "Trey" King III of Norman, OK; great grandchildren: Lucy Kinsinger of Lilburn, GA, Aidan and Tyler Trammell, both of Winder, GA. He was preceded in death by a brother: Billy Wayne King and two sisters: Elizabeth Dalton and Katherine Cothran.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Fisher, Trey King, Jeff Kinsinger, Jeramy Trammell, Jason Boshers, Johnny Boshers, Ben Boshers, Larry Boshers and Michael Howard Boshers. Honorary pallbearers will be retired employees of Stauffer Chemical Maintenance Dept., Deacons of the First Baptist Church and the Brothers of Christ Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

The family request memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Program.
