Charles Dale

Charles Daddy Dale, age 79, a resident of South Cross Bridges Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

Funeral services for Mr. Dale will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jeff Waldrop, Ricky Frazier and Dickey Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy.

The family will receive friends on Thursday and Friday from 4:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born on July 1, 1930 in Maury County, Charles was the son of the late Clint Dale and Flossie Lamar Dale. He was the husband of 43 years of Sara Lucy Norman Dale of Mt. Pleasant. Charles was retired as a Lieutenant with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department with nearly 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post. Charles had farmed in the Mt. Pleasant area all of his life and was a member of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ.

A Christian man of many talents, he could be found at the Red Barn in Dry Creek where he felt closest to God or the softball fields. He was such a gentle giant, known for his strong handshake.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Sara Lucy, include his children: Debby Nicky Chapman and Tim Chapman, both of Mt. Pleasant; son and grandson: Steven JuJu Stephanie Vandygriff Boshers of Mt. Pleasant; great nephew and son: Brandon Keyta Bassham of Murfreesboro; grandchildren: Malinda Chapman, Emily Chapman and Nicole Chapman, all of Mt. Pleasant; great-grandchildren: Chaslen Brymer and Landyn Boshers, both of Mt. Pleasant; sister: Marjorie Odell Haywood of Mt. Joy; brothers: Neil Nancy Dale of Chapel Hill and Carlton Shelia Dale of Sawdust; special sister-in-law: Faye Woods of Mt. Pleasant; like grandchildren: John and Chris Chapman, Bree and Nick Vandygriff, Keydon and Koltt Bassham; special friend: Chad Odom of Mt. Pleasant; three special nieces: Melissa Hayes, Rhonda Farm Boy Woods and Wendy Thomason; special friend: Little Homer Glass and special great nephew: Matt Hayes. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Frances Jones, Mildred Hill and Katherine Duncan.

Pallbearers will be Frank Holt, Bobby Frazier, Eddie Bassham, Ray Bassham, Mark Laws, Randy McNeece, Tommy Wolaver, Shaw Daniels, Jeff Knox and Scooter Skinner. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Columbia Police Department, Sheriff Enoch George and the Maury County Sheriff s Department, softball and baseball friends, Bobby Turner, Tommy Bailey and all of his friends at the Stock Barn, Tennessee Highway Patrole and Lawrenceburg Police Department.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sandy Hook Church of Christ, 8304 Lawrenceburg Highway, Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474.
