Mr. Charles Allen Cummins, age 79, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 3:52 a.m. at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Charles was born on February 19, 1935 to the late Brown Thomas Cummins and the late Ruthie Kennedy Cummins in Maury County, Tennessee. Charles was married to Allene Marshall Cummins whom he had virtually grown up with and loved her so much. He was heart-broken when she passed away on January 22, 2003.
By trade, Charles was a truck driver and also worked at Occidental for twenty-one years as a Chief Job Steward. Maintenance was the perfect profession for someone like Charles, as he loved to tear stuff apart, and then put it back together. Charles was at heart, a man who would do without to make sure that others had something. He loved everyone, always had a smile, and enjoyed talking to everyone – being labeled a “talker”. He loved The Grand Ole Opry and the Christmas season, making it poignant that he passed away during this season.
Mr. Cummins is survived by his children: Kaye (Steven) Boshers of Mt. Pleasant, Charles Jonathan “Johnny” (Tina) Cummins of Columbia, Wendy Calvert (Tim Ramsey) of Hohenwald; son-in-law: Garry Horner; grandchildren: Kristy Christlieb, Misty Horner, John Cummins, Nicole Calvert and Nicolas Calvert; step-grandchildren: Carl Ingrum, Brian Chatman and Daniel VanSteen; step-great grandchildren: Madison Ingrum and William VanSteen; sister: Brownie C. (Terry) Hill and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Brown Thomas and Ruthie Kennedy Cummins; beloved wife: Allene Marshall Cummins; daughter: Bobbie Horner; brother: George “Dub” Cummins and sister: Sue (Owen) Moore.
