Charles Clymore

September 22, 1934 — June 10, 2011

Charles Clymore was born September 22, 1934 in Marshall County, the son of the late Alvie Clymore and Charlotte Ring Clymore. On November 14, 1956, he married Edra Kincaid Clymore of Columbia.

Charles graduated from Forest High School in Chapel Hill in 1952 and was a retiree of Union Carbide Corp. He worked for Union Carbide from 1953 to 1985, retiring as an assistant manager on the yard. In his younger years he coached Babe Ruth baseball, loved to fish and was an excellent bowler. He enjoyed trot lining on the Duck River and most of all, he enjoyed farming. After his retirement, he lived his passion in farming, acquiring a vast number of friends through his hay business. Charles was a faithful member of the Eastside Church of Christ for 53 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Edra, include his children: Rhonda Richard Engel of Nashville, Janet Frank, Jr. Bale of Knoxville and Kenneth Charles Clymore of Columbia; grandchildren: Michael Ashley Haywood of Columbia, John Engel and Laura Engel, both of Nashville, Ben Bale and Jenna Bale, both of Knoxville and Angel Clymore of Columbia; special family friends, Kelvin Laura Mayberry of Columbia; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth K. West of Columbia. Charles will also be sadly missed by his dog, Killer.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his step-father, C.J. Harper, brothers, Harvey and Paul Clymore and sisters, Betty Lancaster and Nancy Carr.

Mr. Clymore passed away on Friday, June 10, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until time of services at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Haywood, John Engel, Ben Bale, Kelvin Mayberry, Kevin Hollis and Doug Boehms. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of Eastside Church of Christ, retired employees of Union Carbide Corp., and members of the 1952 graduating class of Forest High School in Chapel Hill.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the building fund of Eastside Church of Christ, 1024 East Valley Drive, Columbia, TN 38401.
