Charlene Joyce Allen went to be with the Lord suddenly on her birthday at the age of 85. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Allen, Jr. They spent many years in Michigan, Florida, and Tennessee devoting their life to family and creating memories with friends. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Diane) Baker and David (Debbie) Baker. Her cherished grandchildren, Erine, Russell, Andrea, Michelle, and Krista who enjoyed her laughter, love, cooking, photos, and interesting stories. She was blessed to have four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, and brother.
She was born to Samuel and Catherine Fairchild on January 20, 1937, in Glenmary, TN. After graduating from Trenton High School (Trenton, MI) in 1955, she went to work at Blue Cross of Michigan in Detroit. Her Irish Catholic faith sustained and carried her through her life. She was an active member at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Columbia, TN.
She was both generous and kind, creative and clever, and blessed with the gift of gab. With a twinkle in her eye, she shared so many stories of her life with others. She had the ability to make you feel as if you were the most important person in the room. This poured out into her collection of photos and many albums that hold a multitude of memories that will be enjoyed by her loved ones for years to come.
Her many interests included her love to garden, watch movies, read, paint ceramics and create miniature dollhouses. She loved to travel and enjoyed Disney World with her family and always liked to say, “Enjoy it now, you can’t take it with you”.
A memorial service will be held in the spring in Columbia, TN. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude.
