Cecil Deverl Burger, born May 10th, 1931 in Plymouth, Indiana, entered into eternal rest on November 13th, 2018 in Columbia, Tennessee. Mr. Burger was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Margaret (Peg) Elizabeth McClain; his parents Mary Inez and Cecil Deverl Burger; and children Mike Burger and Steve Mullenhour. He is survived by his children Rick (Kelly) Burger of Lewisburg, Tennessee; Candice (Al) Culpepper of Havanah, Florida; Dennis (Loan) Mullenhour of Vietnam; and Reva Defranco of Indiana; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as other treasured family members and friends.
Mr. Burger served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He was stationed in Germany where he served as a jeep driver and radio operator. After his military service, Mr. Burger worked a fulfilling career for USDA as a meat inspector. Upon retirement, Mr. Burger enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture. In his last years, he ran a few consignment shops in the Columbia area. Mr. Burger will be missed among his family, friends, and community at The Bridge at Columbia.
Arrangements have been made with Williams Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 16th, 2018, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 17th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Arbors at Polk Memorial Gardens.
