Carroll W. Spencer

Mr. Carroll W. Spencer, age 73, a resident of N. Locust Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Spencer will be conducted Sunday, October 29, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. J.C. Christian and Rev. Frank Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Born in Giles County, he was the son of the late William Harlan and Ethel Murphy Spencer and husband of Edith Emmitt Spencer for 52 years. He retired from Zeneca, after 34 years and was a US Army veteran during the Korean conflict, a member of the American Legion and an avid UT fan. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Beverly Jim Glotzbach of Richmond Hill, GA; a sister, Annette Nichols of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren, Melanie Marie Jared Dervan of Huntsville, AL and Spence Glotzbach of Richmond Hill, GA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Spencer.

Pallbearers will be Wayne McNeece, Morris King, Fred Johnson, Elbert Powell, Larry McNeece, Junior Davis, W.C. Johnson and Trevor Brewer. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Dugger, John Bowling, Raymond Brewer, Horace Boshers, Hyman Frank, Bill Grissom, Charlie Dugger, Gene Foster, Dr. Allyn Lay, Drs. Toban, Worthman and Jameson, retired Zeneca employees and the Harvesters Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant Bus Fund.
