Mrs. Carrie Sutherland Vaughn, age 49, a resident of Poplar Street in Columbia, passed away Sunday, January 10 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Vaughn will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Mike Roberts and Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-9:00 p.m, and Tuesday from 2-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home
Born on January 6, 1961 in Maury County, she was the daughter of George and Shelby Davis Sutherland and the wife of Paul Vaughn. Mrs. Vaughn was known for her loving and caring nature when surrounded by children, her love for book keeping at soft ball games and home schooling the children of Debbie and David Stanfill. Mrs. Vaughn had previously been employed at the Weathertamer before becoming the Athletic Director at Christian Heritage Academy. Mrs. Vaughn was also a member of the Williamsport Baptist Church.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her husband: Paul Vaughn; one daughter: Caryn Michael Lyons; one granddaughter: Jayda Lyons; parents: Shelby and George Sutherland; one sister: Debbie David Stanfill; one brother: Barry Elaine Sutherland; three nieces: Shana Stanfill, Susie Stanfill and Samantha Stubblefield; three nephews: Stephen Stanfill, Stephen Lunn and Frank Stubblefield; mother-in-law: Wilma Jean Vaughn; four sisters-in-law: Joyce Bill Runions, Ethel Roy Hinson, Sue Frank Carney, Bertha Joe Folkes; two brothers-in-law: Clyde Pam Vaughn, Jr., James Pauline Vaughn; uncle: Bill Jewell Sutherland; aunt: Cookie Sutherland; special friends: Tina Tomlin and Cindy Brunson and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law: Clyde Vaughn, Sr.; grandparents: George F. Sutherland, Ethel Sutherland, John Davis, Jr., Ella Odom Holt and Raymond Holt; uncles: Donald Ray Davis and Paul Howard Davis.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Lancaster, Josh Vaughn, Jimmy Vaughn, Jr. Jason Vaughn, Eddie Runions, Odell Tripp and Bobby Runions.
