Carolyn Baker

Carolyn Martin Baker, age 64, a resident of Goodloe Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on August 18, in Maury Regional Medical Center.

A native of Maury County, Carolyn was the daughter of the late J.T. and Margaret Johnson Martin. She was the wife of the late James "Peanuckle" Baker. Carolyn had worked at the Polk Theater in downtown Columbia and in the Pro Shop at the Mt. Pleasant Country Club. She was formerly owner of the Rocky Top Market in Mt. Pleasant. Carolyn loved golf, playing cards and all kinds of sports, especially UT football. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her sons: Jay Kim Baker of Mt. Pleasant and Brent Andrea Baker of Knoxville; two brothers: Joel Cheryl Martin of Clarksville and Bill Martin of Murfreesboro; grandchildren: Wesley Brittney Baker of Columbia, Corey Baker of Mt. Pleasant; Ashleigh Baker, Kinsley Baker and Karly Baker, all of Knoxville; one great-granddaughter: Aubree Baker of Knoxville; special sister-in-law: Connie Kimbro of Brentwood and special friend and caregiver: Rebecca Russell of Columbia.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 3:30 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rick Points officiating.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Baker, Corey Baker, Don Norman, Donnie Boyd, Raymond Workman, Douglas Norman, Ronnie Clark and Danny Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland McKnight, Dr. Steve Simmons, Dr. Quinn, Dr. Lipp, Dr. Janice Vinson, Dr. Amit Choksi, members of the Mt. Pleasant Country Club and nurses of the CCU, ICU and 3rd floor at Maury Regional Medical Center. A special thanks to all of the personnel from Maury Regional Medical Center who assisted in the care of Mrs. Baker.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of James "Peanuckle" Baker to the American Cancer Society, Maury Co. Unit, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402.
