Caroline Hudson Johnson, 92, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2022, with her family by her side.
Caroline was born on September 24, 1929, in Shipman, Virginia to George and Virginia Hudson. She graduated from Lane high school in 1943. One of Caroline’s favorite pastimes was flying. She received her single-engine pilot’s license and enjoyed many solo flights in a Cessna 150. Caroline retired after a long career at State Farm Insurance Company in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she raised her four children.
Caroline cherished her time with her children and grandchildren and would travel to visit them as often as she could. She loved being outdoors, especially if it was with her family. Her favorite of many activities included road trips through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with family and friends. Caroline was a passionate gardener and always had beautiful flowers and plants in her home. She loved to share her gardening tips with her friends and family.
In her later years, she devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her mother until she passed away at age 86. Caroline loved to travel and told many stories of her travels.
Caroline loved Christmas and spending time with her family during the Christmas holidays were treasured moments for her. She was always a kid at heart; her face would light up and her laughter filled the room, watching the children open their gifts.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Caroline during her 92 years. She had such an appreciation for life itself and always thanked the people closest to her for lending a hand, loving her, and being in her life. As we think of Caroline, we remember the life and love she always shared with her family and all who knew her.
Caroline is survived by her two sons: Richard Johnson and his wife Mead, Andrew Johnson, and his wife Vicki, and 6 grandchildren, Callaway Johnson, Bailie Johnson, Dane Johnson, Karen Isik, Adam Johnson, and Jessica Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Johnson-Olson, and her son Christopher Johnson.
A private service will be held at the family’s request.
