Carmine T. Mcnatt

April 3, 1913 — May 28, 2015

Carmine T. McNatt age 102, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Signature Nursing Home where she had been a patient since January 2012. She was a long time resident of Westover Drive.

Carmine loved, being surrounded by her family members. She enjoyed cooking meals, especially during the holidays, and she loved to travel. She went to Corning, New York to visit with her sister, and to Brandon, Florida to visit with her other sister. Every year she would look forward to spending time in the Smoky Mountains. She said she felt closer to Heaven every time she was there.

She was born April 3, 1913 in Bedford County. She married W.B. McNatt and they moved to Columbia, TN where they farmed on the Zion property where the school is now located. Every chance she got, she loved to ride around and go by and see where she and her husband farmed, and also where her parents farmed.

She became a member of Highland Baptist Church and always enjoyed the preaching and singing. She said it always helped her through hard times and the week. She also enjoyed going on day trips with church members to gather strawberries or sit down and see a play from the theater in Nashville. She was the oldest member of Highland Park Baptist Church and member of the Sunshine Class.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home Sunday, May 31 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens, Monday, June 1st at 10:00 am. Bro. Wilson Henderson will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be: Eddie Thomas, Jeff Thomas, Mike Thomas, Tony Holcomb, Donald “Duck” Sharpe, and Alan Rodgers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Sunshine Sunday School Class (Highland Baptist Church), Kenneth (Sara) Jenkins, George (Imogene) Nelson, Bobby Norman and Alma, Pety, Ridley and Patricia.

Carmine is survived by her niece Reba Thomas; nephew Eddie Thomas; two great nephews Jeff (Melinda) Thomas and Mike (Debra) Thomas; great-great nieces Fayth Thomas and Hope Thomas; great-great nephews Wesley, Jesse, and Matthew Thomas.

She was the oldest of five siblings. Brothers: O.C. Thomas Jr. and William W. Thomas of Columbia; two sisters: Nona Mai Mente of Corning, NY and Edith “Mozella” Kannon, of Brandon, FL. She has several cousins, and a nephew and niece out of state.

The family would like to say a special thank you for the care and well being from the nurses and staff members at Signature Health Care, especially to Dr. Gayland Harris and nurse Susan for all they did.
