Cardia Lamont Smith, II, age 32, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Cardia was born December 29, 1984 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Georgett Bean Smith of Bogart, GA, and the late Cardia Lamont Smith, Sr. He worked as a Personal Assistant for Tennessee Personal Assistance, an agency that services individuals with disabilities. Cardia was outgoing, funny, always had a joke to tell, a philosopher, advisor and never complained, even in the midst of many health issues. Kids loved him and thought of him as a big kid. He was a volunteer at Morning Pointe Assisted Living, helping with bingo. His life attitude was one of helpfulness, being generous always. He was a wonderful father figure and friend to many. Cardia never said goodbye, instead he always said “Holla”.
Cardia is survived by his mother, Georgett Smith of Bogart, GA; brothers, William Lawrence (Melissa) Martin and Dewayne (Monica) Martin; sister, Davina Franklin; aunts, Juanita (Dean) Russell and Vanessa Davis-Garrett; uncles, Tony (Philana) Dunn, and Timmy Dunn, nieces and nephews, Kortney, Alana and Dewayne, II, Kaelyn, Jordynn, Jeramyah, Sean and Willia; and his fiancée and her children, Brandy Dull, Nahdia, Serenity, Adrianna and Jasmine and her granddaughter, Saffire.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, December 3, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Jim O’Brien officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
