C. Carl Sudberry

Mr. Carl Sudberry, 78, formerly 0f Lyon Street in Columbia and a resident of Washington Avenue in Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at Columbia Health Care.

Funeral services for Mr. Sudberry will be conducted Wednesday, June 2, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Boyd and Reverend J.C. Christian officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors being provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Clarence and Finnise Marlin Sudberry. He was the husband of Dorris Baker Kirk Sudberry of Mt. Pleasant. He was a retired supervisor for Allman Construction. He attended the Church of Christ. Being in the U.S. Army during World War II, he served in the 435th Motor Vehicle Division in the European Theatre. He was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19. After retirement, he made a hobby of clock and custom furniture making.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step daughters, Sherri Kenny White of Columbia and Clarinda Anderson of Summertown; step granddaughter, Ashley King of Columbia; two step grandsons, Tyson King of Columbia and Kirk Anderson of Summertown; two nieces, Debbie Sudberry Jerry Brown of Lewisburg and Judy Thornton Paul Finholt of Hendersonville; two nephews, Jimmy Pat Thornton of Johnson City and Marlin Sudberry of Nashville; several great nieces and great nephews; several great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Glen Wilkinson and a brother, Ellis Sudberry.

Pallbearers will Jimmy Thornton, Marlin Sudberry, Mac Bryant, Tommy Hight, Sr., Jay Baker, Jay Baker, Brent Baker, Paul Finholt, and Jerry Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Nichols, Dr. Steve Simmons, A.C. Hall, Hubert Kinzer, James A. Bolton, Foster Thurman, Morris Thurman, and employees of Allman Construction Company.
