Mrs. Bunnie Martin Morton, age 66 , a resident of General Roberts Drive in Columbia passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2006, at her home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Morton will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Wayne Detweiler officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at funeral home.
The Mt. Pleasant native was the daughter of Lesta Finney Martin King and the late Ernest Martin and the wife of John Morton. Mrs. Morton was retired from Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance as a property underwriter. She was a long time coach for Columbia Girls fast pitch softball and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Haylong High School in Mt. Pleasant.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children, Richard Kris Morton of Chapel Hill and Amanda Cates of Columbia TN; a sister, Ellen William Dial of Columbia TN; sister in law, Joyce Claude Crowe of Columbia TN; grandchildren, Olivia Cates of Columbia TN, Katie Morton, John Morton II, and Allie Morton, all of Chapel Hill. She was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn McClain.
Pallbearers will be Jason Sanders, Ryan Massey, Corey Massey, Russell Dial, Callaway Dial, Matthew McClain, Lee Masterson, Dale Hinson, and Eric Swann.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Haylong High School Class of 1958, and the Columbia Fire Department.
