Brownie Hewitt Scoggins, Age 91, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
She was the daughter of John Payton Hewitt and Clabie Wilkes Hewitt of the Robertson Fork community in Giles County. She was a graduate of Jones High School in Lynnville and Nashville Business College. Brownie retired in 1989 after working 41 years, mostly with the state of Tennessee.
Matthew, her husband, preceded her in death on May 11, 2003. Two sons survive – Matthew M. (Sonny) Scoggins Jr (Paulette) of Columbia and Leonard Hewitt Scoggins (Betty Lynn) of Lynnville. She is survived by one sister, Clara Talley Underwood (Bill).
Mrs. Scoggins has five grandchildren Matthew III (Emily) Scoggins of Knoxville, Marion Scoggins, M.D. of Houston, Texas, Levi Scoggins (Mary) of Lewisburg, Lacey (Daniel) Warf of Lynnville, and Lindy Brown Scoggins of Lynnville. She has five great grandchildren.
Deceased sisters include Nannie Pigg, Fan Calahan, and Sarah Dugger. Deceased brothers are John, Wilkes, Clabe, and Allen Hewitt.
Brownie was a member of Cornersville Baptist Church, Pulaski Order of the Eastern Star and Lynnville American Legion.

Visitation is Wednesday, July 17, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Graveside services will be on Thursday, July 18, at Lone Oak Cemetery in Lewisburg at 10:00 a.m.
