Brownie Mangrum Adams

December 7, 1924 — January 8, 2009

Mrs. Brownie Mangrum Adams, age 84, resident of Old Williamsport Pike, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Luther Calvin Mangrum and Kate Sutton Mangrum. She was the wife of the late William Thomas "Pete" Adams, who preceded her in death on May 10, 1980. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a wonderful Nanny. Mrs. Adams loved reading her Bible and had read it through several times. She was a member of the Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Clara James Norman of Columbia, Bertha Barber of Hohenwald, Betty Bigsby of Columbia, Virgie Clyde Denton of Columbia, Barbara Arnold Hooper of Culleoka, Patsy Gail Bobby Walker of Trenton, TN, Laura Justin Walker of Columbia, William Earl Reba Adams of Nashville and Dale Adams of Columbia; two sisters: Faye Horace Boshers of Mt. Pleasant and Betty Green of Mt. Pleasant; one brother: Luther Calvin Baby Mangrum of Mt. Pleasant; twenty-two grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son: Pat Adams; two sisters: Virginia Jones and Joyce Crews and one brother: Orville Mangrum.

Pallbearers will be James Adam Boyd, Bob Denton, Robert Boyd, Todd Hooper, Bill Denton and Alan Hooper. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Gaylon Harris, Dr. James Marshall, Dr. Janice Vinson, Dr. Thomas, the staff of Life Care Center and Maury Regional Hospital and members of the Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 109 East 17th Street, Columbia, TN 38401.
