Bracken Hensley Walters, Jr.

Mr. Bracken Hensley Walters, Jr., 84, a resident of Santa Fe Pike in Columbia, died Thursday, January 9, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Walters will be conducted Sunday, January 12, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Kenvin Sisk, Reverend Larry Johnson and Reverend David Ussery officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Wesley Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A native of Maury County, Mr. Walters was the son of the late Bracken Hensley, Sr. and Maggie Hood Walters and husband of Marie Vestal Walters. He was a retired furnace operator with Union Carbide Corporation, a long time farmer in the Knob Creek Community and an avid gardener. He was a member of Mt. Wesley-Akin Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean Jimmy Dodson and Shirley Jimmy Hanback, both of Columbia; two sons, Jerry A. Carol F. Walters of Knob Creek Community, Kenneth Walters of Columbia; two sisters, Sarah Stanfill of Columbia, Betty Little of Santa Fe; two brothers, Leon Mildred Walters and Billy Peggy Walters both of Columbia; eight grandsons, Sammy Tammy Walters, Michael Dana Walters, Nicholas Brooke Walters, Allen Dodson, Troy Pam Dodson, Mark Dodson, Jeremy Sherry Hanback all of Columbia and James R. Hanback, Jr. of Bethel Community; two granddaughters, Gina Eddie Harvey of Columbia and Tina Stephen Butler of Petersburg; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Walters was preceded in death by two fosters sisters and their husbands, Jessie Mae and T.C. Lockhart and Gertie and Ivan Johnson; one sister, Pauline Strickland, three brothers, Raymond Walters, Howard Walters and Ralph Walters.
Active Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Michael Walters, Sammy Walters, Nicholas Walters, Allen Dodson, Troy Dodson, Mark Dodson, Jeremy Hanback, James R. Hanback, Jr., Stephen Butler and Eddie Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be retirees of Union Carbide Corporation, Bill Brunson, Charles Keltner, Robert George, Larry Fox, Jeff Fox, William Scott, Chris Gibson, Billy Truelove, Ken Farguson, Dumont Toungett, Mickey Peach, Joe Hendley, Hamlet Kinzer, J.E. Davis, James McGee, Bobby Truelove, Jeff McGee, Randy Stanfill, Larry Weaver, Greg Walters, Larry Walters, Mike Walters, Buster Walters, Tim Scott, Bobby Fox, Charles Pigg, Bobby Kelley, Leonard Johnson, Eddie Woodall, Jimmy Woodall and Billy McKennon.
