Mr. Bobby Richard Mays, age 89, of Columbia, passed away following an extended illness at Life Care Center of Columbia on Sunday, January 03, 2016.
Bobby was born on March 11, 1926 to Claude and Gertrude Mays in Clifton, Tennessee. He served his country honorably during World War II in the U. S. Navy. He was married to Louise Moore Mays for fifty-three years, until her passing on June 3, 2005. Mr. Mays worked at Monsanto for thirty-five years, retiring as a lab supervisor. He was a family man who loved spending as much time with them as possible. He also enjoyed fishing.
Bobby is survived by his sons: Michael (Anne) Mays of Bartlett, Tennessee and David (Lynn) Mays of Columbia, Tennessee; daughter-in-law: Debbie Mays; grandchildren: David Michael Mays, Jonathan (Jay-B) Wise, John (Brianne) Mays, Matthew Mays and Mary Mays; great-grandchildren: Jaylin Wise, Jon Wise and Jace Wise. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Gertrude Mays; youngest son: Ronnie Mays; and his brother: Claude Mays, Jr.
A graveside service for Mr. Mays will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens.
