Mr. Bobby Gene Fields, 73, a resident of Massey Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Fields will be conducted Thursday, March 27, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Donald Pruitt and Rev. Ricky Cotton officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late B.O. and Ada Odell Campbell Fields and husband of the late Charlotte Hardy Fields He was a retired truck driver for Harris Trucking and a member of Cross Bridges Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Gene Mel Fields of Columbia, Melanie Donnie Melton of Mt. Pleasant and Karen Fields Brown of Columbia; grandchildren: Jeremy Victoria Pope, Tabitha Will Brewer, Stefanie Shane Lancaster, Christopher Fields and Chrissy Potts; great grandchildren: William, Kailey, Emaley and Hayden Pope, Karly Lancaster, Hailey and Kinsley Brewer and Alyssa Potts; sisters: Peggy Charlie Kilgore of Mt. Juliet, Betty Eck, Mildred Raymond Brown, both of Lawrenceburg; brothers: Ben Margaret Fields of Texas, James Edna Fields and Shorty Ruth Fields, both of Lawrenceburg. He was preceded in death by brothers: Milton Fields and Kenneth Fields; sisters: Doris Ezell and Nancy Moore.
Pallbearers will be David Brown, Ray Brown, Jerry Brown, Mike Weathers, Johnathon Weathers, Mark Fields, Mark Hardy, Jerry Ezell and Chris Eck. Honorary pallbearers will be the truck drivers from Harris Trucking.
Memorial may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
