Mr. Ulylus Evans ?Billy? Wood, 75, husband of
Willadeen Baker Wood and a resident of Kinzer Lane in Columbia, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Wood will be conducted Friday January 30, 2004 at 1:00 p. m. at the Highland Church of Christ, 497 East James Campbell Boulevard with Curtis Dowdy and Johnny Mack Young officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

The Mt. Pleasant native was the son of the late Elylus Evans and Octavia Morrow Wood. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Company in the maintenance department and was a former employee of Anderson Brothers and Foster in Columbia. He served in the Tennessee National Guard. He was a member of the Wood Den Carvers and a member of the Highland Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Barry Earlene Wood of Columbia, TN; a granddaughter, Katherine Megan Pearson of Marietta, GA; a step-mother, Judy Wood of Redding, CA.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Pearson who died in 1989.

Pallbearers will be Mark Witherow, Bobby Stephenson, Bobby Fite, Dennis Phillips, Jim Wilsford, James W. ?Jim? Thomas, Harry Edwards , David Pitts and Jim Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons, Auditorium Sunday School Class, and Care Group 6 at Highland Church of Christ, Monsanto retirees, Paul Wagster, Landon Rummage, Arthur Hammons, Ray Holden, Dory Adams, Victor Beck, Charlie Hood, Travis Jett, F.A. Davis, Ben Curtis , Manuel Young, Wallace Anderson, and Dr. Ruth Lamar

Memorials may be made to the Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, 497 East James Campbell Blvd Columbia, TN 38401.
