Billy Roy Thompson, age 79, resident of Meadow Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
Billy Roy was born October 19, 1937, in Cross bridges, the son of the late William Edward Thompson and Lillian Holt Thompson. He was married for 59 years to his wife, Eleanor Joyce Thompson, who preceded him in death on December 29, 2015. Billy Roy was retired from Stauffer Chemical Company and was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his children, Teresa Nichols of Mt. Pleasant, Mike (Angie) Thompson of Summertown and Ricky (Karen) Thompson of Columbia; grandchildren, Lori (Troy) Smith, Mary Allison Nichols, Daniel (Ashley) Thompson, Bridget (Tyler) Boshers, Rodney Sanders, Amber Owens and Tara (Austin) Simmons; great-grandchildren, Chloe Smith, Mollee Elizabeth Smith, Peyton Smith, Cullen Daniel, Tripp and Trenton Thompson, Katelyn (Nick) Jackson, Leiley Owens, Lilah Owens, Landry Simmons, Lochlan Simmons and Lenox Simmons; brother, Wayne (Ellen) Thompson, brother-in-law Kenny (Betty) Cummins; his special dog, Molly; a special little friend, Kaylor Jacobs and a host of nieces, nephews and many great friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jack Nichols.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Ricky Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Thompson Timothy Thompson, Kent Cummins, Tyler Boshers, Austin Simmons, and Troy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Devita, Dr. Clayton, Dr. Dana Chandler, Melody Taylor, his breakfast friends at Small Town Diner, Henry Parsons, friends at TDR Country, Keith Cummins, Mark Hunt, friends from Stauffer Chemical, Tommy Nicholson, Buryl Young, friends at Mt. Pleasant Country Club and the members of Locust Street Church of Christ.
