Reverend Billy Patterson, 84, a resident of N. James Campbell Blvd in Columbia, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006 at NHC/Hillview.
Funeral service for Reverend Patterson will be conducted Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Reverend Jeff Yohe, Reverend Charles Clark and Reverend Lawrence Scroggins officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was a native of Madison County, Alabama. He was the son of the late A. G. and Beulah Hughey Patterson and the husband of Evelyn Scroggins Patterson of Columbia. He retired from the City Wastewater Treatment Plant as a Superintendent, retired from pastoring the Riverside Church of God of Prophecy, and also pastored churchs in Middle and East Tennessee for forty years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never met a stranger and loved everyone he met. He dedicated his life to his Lord, putting God first in all things. He was loyal, faithful and truthful to his faith, family and many friends and will be missed by all. Reverend Patterson was a member of The Church of God in Columbia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Eleanor L. Clark, Carolyn Fay Charles Martindale both of Columbia, TN, Boyd Marscell Alice Patterson, Sr. of Atlanta, GA and Wendell L. Brenda Patterson of Franklin, TN ; grandchildren, Angela Terry Sargent of Lawrenceburg, TN, Boyd M. Nancy Patterson, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN, P.J. Kimberley Patterson of Jacksonville, FL, Evelyn Ehret of Columbia, TN , Steven D. Adena Martindale of Culleoka, TN, Elisabeth Gideon Markley of Greer, S.C., Phillip D. Patterson , Emily Patterson, Evan A. Patterson all of Franklin, TN; great-grandchildren, Wilburn Lee Sargent of Lawrenceburg, TN, George Ehert of Columbia, TN, Trey Patterson and Samantha Patterson both of Chattanooga, TN.
Pallbearers will be Boyd M. Patterson, Jr., P.J. Patterson, Steven D. Martindale, Wilburn Lee Sargent, Phillip D. Patterson, Evan A. Patterson, Gideon Markley and Terry Sargent. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest King, Bud Creel, DeWayne Oldham, Ministers and members of The Church of God.
