Mr. Billy Joe Hoyle, age 84, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Nashville VA Hospital following an extended illness.

Billy was born on March 2, 1932 in Opelika, Alabama to Dewey Andrew Hoyle and Francis Lucille Davidson Hoyle. He served honorably in the U. S. Army in the Korean War. He married Joyce Davidson Hoyle and they enjoyed forty-two years together, serving the Lord and raising their family together. Billy had a servant’s heart, maintaining the grounds at his church, Riverview Baptist, and also serving as an elder. He was a member of the Maury Baptist Association. Additionally, he volunteered at the VA in Nashville. He established and managed his termite and pest control business and lawn work, remodeling and repairs for over thirty-five years.

Billy enjoyed music and playing guitar. Billy loved spending time with his family, most specifically his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Billy is survived by his loving family, including his wife: Joyce “June” Hoyle of Columbia; children: Kenneth (Christie) Waldrum of Mt. Pleasant, Lisa Marie (Gary) Riddle of Spring Hill, Daniel Waldrum of Columbia, Joseph “Joe” (Nelia) Waldrum of Hendersonville and Michael (Dolores) Waldrum of Spring Hill; grandchildren: Ashley (Kyle) Carrier, Justin Waldrum, Taylor Kaltenbach, Ryan Kaltenbach, Chad (Kristy Current) Riddle, Jennifer (Todd) Wiencek, Aidan Waldrum, Lia Waldrum, Bella Waldrum, Bronson Waldrum, Mila Waldrum, Kathy (Doug) Miller and Michael (Amy Roche) Hoyle; great-grandchildren: Zane Carrier, Layne Waldrum, Emma Kaltenbach, Gunner Wiencek, Luke Wiencek, Kaylee Riddle, Brooklynn Riddle, Camilla Riddle, Elliot Koben, Jordyn Hoyle and Payton Hoyle; brother: Eddie (Debbie) McCoy and family friend: Susan Middleton.

Mr. Hoyle was preceded in death by his parents: Dewey Andrew Hoyle and Francis Lucille Davidson Hoyle; son: Mark Andrew Hoyle; brother: Phillip McCoy and sister: Kathy McCoy.

The family would like to give a special thank you for their loving care to the VA Hospital Palliative Care Unit doctors, nurses and techs.

Graveside services for Mr. Hoyle will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Culleoka, Tennessee with Rev. David Buffaloe officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19.
