Mr. Billy Frank Thompson, 80, a resident of Evergreen Drive in Columbia, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be conducted Friday, June 17, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Hampshire, Tennessee native was the son of the late Maury ?Red? Thompson and Zelma Love Thompson. He was the husband of Rubye Yates Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a retired courtesy clerk for Kroger and former security guard for Dixie Manufacturing Company. He was a long-time farmer of the Hampshire Community and a member of United Methodist Church. He loved the Atlanta Braves and was an avid gardener.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter Sonya Thompson of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Joy York of Nashville, TN and Joanne Farris Gunter of Barnesville, GA; one brother, Willard ?Sonny? Betty Thompson of Huntsville, AL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Cheek of Nashville, TN; three brothers, Roy Thompson, Robert ?Buddy? Thompson, and Rayburn Thompson all of Columbia.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
