Billie Cockrell entered into eternal peace on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at The Bridge, Columbia, Tennessee. Billie was born in Crocket Mills, Tennessee on May 16, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Jim Henry and Ruby P. Worthington.
She was a graduate of UT Knoxville and an alumni of Sigma Kappa sorority. She was a retired school teacher for twenty-five years with the Memphis City Schools. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
Billie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Ellis Cockrell, Jr., her precious son, James Ellis Cockrell, her sister, Betty Worthington and brother, Jimmy G. Worthington. She is survived by her brother, Larry Worthington. She also leaves behind her cherished children, Brenda Jane Cockrell, Ruth Anne Cockrell Talley (Rik Talley), Rita Cockrell Deyo (Dean Deyo), and son, Billy Cockrell, her grandchildren, Jessika Kynett, Kristopher Talley and Kameron Talley, and 3 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Cockrell will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. in Blevins Hall at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee.
