Mr. Bill E. Capps, age 74, resident of Crofton Park Drive in Columbia, passed away on, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Bill was born on April 11, 1936 in Marshall County. He was the son of the late Wilson and Vera Hargrove Capps. A retired barber, he was the former owner of Bill & Johnny's Barber Shop, and a member of the Barber's Association, Maury County Amateur Radio Club, and Maury County Gun Club. Mr. Capps was an avid skeet and trap shooter and attended the Pleasant Heights Baptist Church in Columbia.

He is survived by his wife: Geneva Capps; and son Mark Capps of Lewisburg; 5 grandchildren: Brent Lori Dooley, Trevor Dana Dooley, Kate Sam Gassaway, Sam Curtis, and Kevin Wilburn; and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Janice Wilburn; step-son: Ronnie Curtis; and step-daughter: Linda Curtis Dooley.

Graveside services for Mr. Capps will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rick Points officiating.

The Capps family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Rice, Ronnie Lunn, John Andrews, Bill Perley, Steve Snackenburg and Jamie Hutton. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Maury County Gun Club, members of the retired Barber's Association, Charles Sanders, Johnny Riggins, John Davidson, Garland Worley, Greg Clement, Ricky and Donna Bennett and neighbors of Wydham Park.
