Betty Ann Nance Sutton, age 84, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Signature Health Care of Columbia.
Betty was born on April 3, 1932 to the late Ollie Claude Nance and Cora Jane Boshers Nance in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Betty was a strong and loving mother to her five children. She married her husband, Howard E. Sutton on December 14, 1973 and she loved him greatly. He passed away on November 6, 2005. Betty loved to cook and decorate for the holidays and other special occasions. She loved flowers and that was shown to all by her porch, house and garden full of colorful flowers. Also, she was a talker, as Betty was known to “wear a phone out”! Mrs. Sutton was also a Christian lady having been a past member and attended both First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant and Allensville Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant.
Betty is survived by: her children: Randy (Debbie) Nance, Jimmy Lott, David (Kay) Lott, Cathy Akins and Brenda Wright (Kim King) all of Mt. Pleasant; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sister: Annie Ruth Spears; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers: Cecil Nance, Charlie Nance and O. C. Nance; sisters: Bessie Malugin, Alene Uselton and Nettie Sexton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sutton will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. David Nelson and Rev. J. C. Christian officiating in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Jason Nance, Matthew Lott, Dereck Clifton, Kyle Wright, Tommy Lyon, Brian Davis and Nathan Runions will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff at Signature Health Care and special thanks is extended from the family for their care and compassion; Dr. Sikes, Dr. Bain, Tim Brashers, R. N. at Avalon Hospice, Ostomy Support Group, Maury Regional Medical Center, and special friends: Louise Nichols and Edna Goodwin.
