Mrs. Betty Jean (Pinkard) Smith, age 70, a beloved wife and mother and resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
Born on April 4, 1947 in Lawrence County, Betty Jean was the daughter of the late Homer and Patti Ruth Buie Pinkard of Columbia. She was a long-time employee of Maury Regional Hospital and also served as a hospital volunteer. She was the past President of the American Legion Auxillary Unit 19 as well as District President. Betty was a dedicated member of Harvest Baptist Church.
Betty Jean is survived by her husband, Kim Randall Smith and her son, Daniel Paul Smith of Columbia as well as sister, Wilma Pinkard Skaggs of Smyrna, TN, many beloved cousins and two nieces, Jackie Skaggs and Cassie Alvarez and her Aunt Willena Hunter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Pinkard of Columbia.
The Smith family will visit with friends on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral Services for Betty Jean will be conducted Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00am at Harvest Baptist Church in Columbia with Pastor Ron Paul officiating and Chaplain Ray Dye assisting. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pall Bearers will include members of Harvest Baptist Church, past and present members of the American Legion and employees of Maury Regional Medical Center.
