Betty Sue Slaughter

Betty Sue Slaughter, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at NHC Walnut.

Betty was born on January 28, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to Ellis Dayton Cummins and Myrtie Howard McKennon. Betty married Robert Slaughter and they were married for sixty-five years until his passing in October 2019. She was a great cook and loved to sew, including embroidery, curtains, and clothes. She loved taking care of her “boys.”

The family will visit with friends on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Betty is survived by her sons Jeffrey (Lorrie) Slaughter and Kevin Slaughter; grandchildren Christopher Lee Slaughter, Amber Marie Slaughter, Mark Anthony Slaughter, Chase Steven Slaughter, and Ashley Corrine Slaughter; six great grandchildren; and sister Mary Scroggins.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Robert Slaughter; parents Ellis and Myrtie Cummins; sons Mark Anthony Slaughter and Autry Slaughter; siblings Annie Mae and Billy Ray Cummins.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
