Betty Norman Sanders

Mrs. Betty Norman Sanders, age 83, resident of Carol Drive in Columbia, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born on November 12, 1927 in Maury County, she was the daughter of Willie and Louise Skillern Norman. She was the wife of the late Ralph N. Sanders, Jr. She was a graduate of Hay Long High School. Betty was a homemaker and was always a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother and known to many as Mammaw. She loved making Afghans and crocheting. Betty loved gardening in her flowers. When her family came to visit, she made sure there were pictures taken. For more than 25 years, Mrs. Sanders was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by two sons, Ralph Melanie Sanders of Sikeston, MO and Rick Paula Sanders of Columbia; three grandsons, Keith Angie Hooten of Kilmichael, MS, Kevin Kim Hooten of Mt. Pleasant and Scott Sanders of Nixa, MO; three granddaughters, Karen Sammy Boehms of Columbia, Patrice Roberts of Highridge, MO and Linzie Robert Hilton of Lebanon; multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Sally Bradley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Hooten.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sanders will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. John Rushing officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

The Sanders Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday and from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Northside Baptist Church, 127 Theta Pike, Columbia, TN 38401.

Active pallbearers Keith Hooten, Kevin Hooten, Scott Sanders, Willie Higgason, Johnny Higgason and Charles Troope. Honorary pallbearers will be John H. Davis, Jr., Robert Hilton, Greg Bradley and members of the Northside Baptist Church.
