Mrs. Betty Lee Scott Cates, age 63, a resident of Santa Fe Pike in Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cates will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother Bob Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Fe Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday and Thursday from 5:00 until 9:00 at the funeral home.

Born in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Effie Mae Slaughter Scott. She was a homemaker, had a Daycare at her home and was a seamstress at Public Shirt Factory. Mrs. Cates was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Kimberly Tyrone Roach of Mt. Pleasant, Johnny Christy Cates of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Adam Sisk, Andrew Sisk, Jacob Roach and Kelsey Cates; sisters and brothers: Elizabeth Burns, Nelson Scott, Jewell Spencer, Pauline Davidson, Wanda Fly and James Scott; Wayne Cates the father of her children.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Wayne Cates

Pallbearers will be Adam Sisk, Andrew Sisk, Tim Laws, David Burns, James Scott and Jason Burns.

Honorary pallbearers will be all the children that she cared for over the years in her daycare, Nelson Scott, Jack Childress and Pete Spencer.
