Betty Jean Slaughter, age 75, long time Columbia resident, passed away on Friday at the home of her daughter, Judy.
Betty was born July 2, 1936 in Maury County, the daughter of the late Lon Davis and Ruth Baker Davis. She was the wife of the late David Slaughter, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1984. Betty had worked for Publix Mfg. and Apcom Inc. in Franklin. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy D. Larry Brady of Santa Fe and Becky Slaughter of Columbia; two brothers, Jimmy Rachel Davis of Summertown and Ronnie Davis of Nashville; two sisters, Frances Nelson Stutts of Columbia and Philis Thomason of Mt. Pleasant; three granddaughters: Angela Brady of Nashville, Amy Peter Carroll of Culleoka and Allison Brady of Santa Fe; one great-grandson, Tommy Carroll of Culleoka along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Slaughter will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Tony Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny and Betty Lightfoot and Lavelle Riggins.
