Mrs. Betty Gibson, 72, a resident of Santa Fe Pike in Columbia, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at her residence.

Born March 17, 1938 in Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Bearden and Ola Vanzant Byrd and the wife of Hal Gibson for 56 years. She was a homemaker, an antique dealer, owner of Santa Fe Pike Antiques and Betty's Shop. Mrs. Gibson was a Christian, who was saved at the age of 6.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Michael Tina Gibson and Sharon Sewell, both of Columbia; grandchildren: T.J. Sewell, Justin Sewell, Matthew Lynch, Brandon Gibson, Karita Harris, Sarah Lazarus and Jennifer Gladden; great-grandchildren: Audrey Sewell, Lilly Gillian. Emma Dawson, Christopher Gibson, Michael Wayne Gibson and Eli Harris; brothers: William Bearden and Lindsey Bearden. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Deborah Roberts; great-grandson: J.C. Coffey; sisters: Shirley, Mary Lou, Louise; brother: Roy.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gibson will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 7, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be T.J. Sewell, Justin Sewell, Brandon Gibson, Matthew Lynch, Josh Lazarus and Chris Harris.
